Anthony has predominately worked in retail for the likes of Tesco, Martins, Woolworths, Marks and Spencer, Phones 4U and T-Mobile (now EE) in a store management role. In 2008, he crossed over to HR starting as an HR Administrator, then moving into a HR Business Partner role with T-Mobile before specialising in Employee Relations. He then moved to Waterstones as an HR Business Partner before taking on the role of HR Project Manager.

As an HR Business Partner at Waterstones, he worked across several retail areas, supporting up to 5 Regional Managers and over 100 shops at any one time. He has dealt with disciplinaries, grievances and absence management at all levels and he also supported with recruitment, performance management and manager training and development. As the business partnering role became more strategic, he worked with the Senior Retail Team to develop the people priorities and to help them understand the impact of absence and staff turnover and coached them into having some difficult conversations as well as proactively helping to develop succession plans.

As an HR Project Manager he was responsible for delivering a Learning Management System to the business as well as conducting a full policy review which resulted in a clear process for reviewing policies and updating them, where required.  As a result, several missing policies were identified and implemented across the business. In addition, he introduced a range of HR reports to the business enabling Managers to identify where there were issues as well as putting together a process for them to work with their HR Business Partner to resolve them.

Anthony has also been involved with restructures, TUPE transfers and store closures and, for a period, managed the HR Administration Team.
